Postdoc Position Computer Science Scholarships

Computer Science Scholarships Complex interaction of climate change with land use changes and increased competition of food, fiber and bio-fuel production for natural resources call for integrated research aimed at the mitigation and adaptation options. WASCAL (West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adaptation Land Use) is a research program that focuses a large scale that is designed to help overcome these challenges and thereby increase the resilience of human and environmental systems to climate change and variability increases. It does so by strengthening infrastructure and research capacity in West Africa associated with climate change and by combining expertise from ten West African countries and Germany.

Your task is to determine the impact of climate and technology on the provision of food, feed and fiber in the area of focus WASCAL. In addition,
Computer Science Scholarships the environmental impact of technological adaptation options under climate change will be analyzed. mathematical modeling and scenario analysis are equipped with field experiments and data mining is the main method that will be used to assess the bio-physical impacts of climate change and climate variability on agricultural systems and appropriate technological measures to overcome them. You will work on improving the agro-ecosystem model at different spatial scales to explain the uncertainty associated with the approach of the model and scaling problems. The model will assist in identifying stressors current climate and future and their impact on crop production. You are expected to build and lead a group of PhD students, which will contribute to the objectives and tasks of the project. Long-term field experiments will be!
and monitored under your supervision.

We are
Computer Science Scholarships looking for people who are very motivated to work in an interdisciplinary and international team. The successful candidate holds a PhD in agriculture, soil science, geo-ecology or related science with a background in crop production and / or soil science and expertise in using simulation models. Experience in developing process-based, numerical model at the interface soil-plants and in computer programming (C + +, C sharp) is a benefit. Ability to travel frequently to West Africa is expected and an excellent command of English or French is required. work experience in Africa would be beneficial.
This position is a position that full and paid in accordance with German regulations for scientists at Post Doc level (TVL-13).
Computer Science Scholarships Applicants with more than three years of experience in scientific research may be eligible for additional upgrades. The project will run for 4.5 years with an early stage of 6 months, commencing on August 1, or as soon as possible.
